May 19, 2008: At War, Sex and Death 101, and video
Film guy John is interviewing Pulitzer Prize-winning local photographer David Leeson about his new film At War. He'll also be a celebrity judge tomorrow night screening entries in the 24 Hour Dallas Video Race completed Saturday. Of the 100 teams registered, only 64 met the deadline.
McKinney Minnie is polishing her profile of city manager Frank Ragan and is working to spread the news of the Irving library's annual book sale.
Alex is previewing the film Sex and Death 101 but is uncertain about its release date.
Erin prepares for the next Pegasus News Showcase (video from the last one is still online). She's also editing video from Mayfest for Pegasus News on the Tube on the iMedia network.
We also welcome our new summer intern Scott Guthrie. Make him feel welcome and/or cut him some slack.

May 15, 2008: McKinney's City Manager and film producer Doug Mankoff of Dallas
Now that he's had a while to settle in, McKinney city manager Frank Ragan will meet with our own Minnie Payne, who will no doubt teach us all something interesting about him that we didn't already know.
Film guy John Meyer is working on a review of Before the Rains, which was produced by Dallas native Doug Mankoff, and opens tomorrow at the Inwood Theater.
Teresa is working on this week's Best Bites.
Alex is working on "You Were There, Or Not" and Chad is working on the "Pegasus News Players presents" for the May episode of Pegasus News on the Tube.
Meanwhile Laura S. is keeping tabs on upcoming events in Addison and at art galleries around town.

May 2, 2008: "Email box full of news"
On this glorious Spring-like Friday at PegNews World H.Q., Erin is working the city desk while also preparing to cover baseball playoffs involving Keller and Fossil Ridge. Then she'll be telling us (and by "us" I mean "you") about tickets going on sale for various shows, such as Judas Priest. AND FINALLY - she'll be heading back out to Mayfest. (Hope she's eaten her Wheaties.)
Says Laura S.: "I've got an email box full of news." Not quite a briefcase full of blues, but still worth talking about.
Teresa will be plumbing the depths of the Highland Park neighborhood (to which she has been assigned), while I - film guy (but also neighborhood coverage dude) - will follow up on what Alex told me about a big shakeup in Corinth: something about a slew of city officials leaving all at once, with no one (or some unknown entity) left to man the wheel of govt.
Happy Friday! And get out and do something fun this weekend, O.K.?

Mayday 2008: Iron Man, Center for Creative Connections, and immigration demonstrations
It's a busy day in the Pegasus Newsroom, Laura S. is previewing the grand opening of the Dallas Museum of Art Center for Creative Connections. She will return to the arts district this afternoon, where immigration reform advocates will be gathering at Dallas' Catholic Catedral Santuario de Guadalupe for a peaceful demonstration at 4pm, culminating with a rally at Dallas City Hall this evening at 5:30.
Minnie is working to contact Irving's mayoral candidate Rigoberto V. Reza in advance of the May 10 election. She's also reporting on the evolution of TWU's P.E. department of yesteryear to the kinesiology department it is today.
Teresa is wrapping up Best Bites, while Erin prepares to capture video at Mayfest, which starts tonight.
Meanwhile John Meyer is polishing off his review of the surprisingly strong Iron Man opening tomorrow.

April 17, 2008: Remembering Forgetting Sarah Marshall, John Bolton, and six-figure job seeking
It's been so long since Alex saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, he's re-screening it before writing his review of the film, which opens tomorrow. As for me, I've seen those billboards and bus ads hyping the protagonist's fake blog for so long, I forgot the film wasn't yet open.
Erin will recap a fair and balanced live-and-in-person interview of John Bolton (former U.S. representative to the United Nations) being conducted by Fox News' own Eric Shawn at the Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series. The event is co-sponsored by the Dallas-based National Center for Policy Analysis, which has mistakenly identified Bolton as a former U.S. Ambassador, so don't believe everything you read. Hopefully the book Bolton's chatting up is more accurate than his p.r.
Minnie is working on a business story about Carrollton-based Rise Smart, a career services company exclusively for job-seekers who aim to earn $100,000 or more a year. She's also profiling McKinney mayor Bill Whitfield.

April 15, 2008: minors in strip clubs, council agendas and other distractions from the tax man
This morning Erin is covering the city desk and checking out council agendas for her designated 'hoods.
Alex, meanwhile, declares that Zombie Strippers is good genre stuff with political satire thrown in for effect. He's writing up a review for posting on the film's release date.
Catherine will be watching tomorrow's Dallas City Council proceedings closely because there's an item on the agenda involving an attempt to close the loophole which allows minors to work in strip clubs. In addition, today she'll be polishing up her interview piece with Michelle Shocked in advance of that singer/songwriter's appearance locally.
And John P. (Paris?) Meyer (moi) will be posting notice of DVDs releasing this week in addition to paying some much-needed attention to college and university beats.

April 14, 2008: Claude Lelouch, Bill Whitfield, and Zombie Strippers
John Paris Meyer finished watching Roman de gare in advance of his interview with director Claude Lelouch, who is being honored at the USA Film Festival.
Minnie is traveling to McKinney for a one-on-one interview with Mayor Bill Whitfield.
Catherine is rounding up new content partners and working on an end-of-the-month city council preview.
Alex is trying to figure out if the city of Plano is serious about adopting new recycling resolutions and then attending a screening of Zombie Strippers, two things that obviously go hand-in-hand.
