Neighborhood Italian in the II Creeks Shopping Center proud of its homeboy ownership: Owner-operator Mark Collins and his brother, manager Joe Collins, are from the neighborhood, and chefs Kelly Cameron (formerly of Patrizio’s and Café Pacific) and Lance Pearson are proud locals, too. Located in what used to be a Jewish bookstore, Michael Mark’s has a broad menu of Italian dishes, some with a twist, such as the smoked chicken lasagna or the Tuscan nachos made from thin pasta chips topped with marinara, white beans, and cheese. The patio has a 20-foot fireplace, and the kitchen is wide-open – customers are encouraged to talk to the chefs. But the eye catcher is the huge mural painted by local artist Rex Kare, which depicts a Tuscan valley scene – grapes, rolling hills, sunset, you get the drift.

Redefining the Disfranchised: The Political Art of Nina Allender As we continue to celebrate the 88th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote, there's a prime opportunity to view influential art from the era. Nina Evans Allender drew political cartoons for The Suffragist from 1914 into the 1920s, transforming stereotypical views of who a suffragist was. Over the years, Allender contributed more than 250 political cartoons to the movement, a number of which are on display at the Women's Museum at Fair Park. More info

Great Food. Tons of Fun at the Bar. I would highly recommend to all who want great italian food and family atmosphere. The wine of the week is a great concept and helps expand my knowledge of better wines. Thanks

I went to Michael Mark’s Trattoria and had a less than stellar experience. I was first seated on the benches along the wall, this bench has a high seat and the table was 6 inches above my knees. I asked to be reseated and at first said they could not. Considering the restaurant was mostly empty, it should have been no big deal.
The service was slow the wait staff could care less and the food was mediocre. I had the lasagna and it was OK but not good when compared to Momo’s on Forrest lane. I was disappointed because I live close by and attend country club near by.
I would not recommend this restaurant. There is too much competition for you dollars to be all around sub standard.

We went for the first time yesterday, but it won't be the last. Unfortunately, the fried calamari appetizer is only available in a large portion sufficient to feed two. My partner doesn't care for calamari, so I will have to order as main course some night. We had the fried mozzarella and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Both were delicious and well prepared. The bread was a little disappointing, as it is not a dense, crusty Italian bread, but the dipping sauce is very nice. The wine selection is very adequate and we received a nice recommendation from the chef which was very good. The salads were adequate; nothing to write home about. The entrees were another story. The Veal Marsala is heaven; best I've ever had, since the marsala was present but not overpowering the dish. The veal itself is some of the best I've ever had; very juicy and tender. The Veal Parmigian was excellent as well with a wonderful homemade marinara sauce. Good tomatoes. Unfortunately, the pasta was a shade over al dente. We finished off the evening with a New York treat we're familiar with; zeppoli and coffee. If you've ever been to the Feast of San Gennaro in New York's Little Italy, these are the hot little dough balls coated in powdered sugar that you buy as you enter the festival and that stay with you all night. They are absolutely fantastic. Service is adequate, but as the restaurant fills it can hit slow spots. Bravo Michael; we'll be back!
